Turkish Airlines third-quarter cargo results rocket up


Turkish Airlines moved 810,489 tons of cargo between January and September this year – an increase of 26.8% over the same nine months of 2016.

The Far East, Europe and North America led the way in terms of rising volumes of cargo and mail carried, each with around 30% more than the previous reporting period; only the Central and South America regions saw a fall in tonnage (down 5%).

For the first nine months of this year, cargo revenue was up 29.6% over the same period of 2016, at $923m. Furthermore, the carrier reported a 38.3% year-on-year rise in cargo revenue to $343m for the third quarter of 2017, ended September 30.

Turkish Airlines’ total revenue showed an increase of 23% year on year for the third quarter and was up by 8.5% for the first nine months of 2017, at $8.2bn. Cargo accounted for 11.3% of the airline’s revenue during the January-September period.
